Many thank's Mai, hope to see you at the Pod!

Race Called Off!

There is some rain in the air and the time is getting late. Hockenheimring hasn't got a permit to make any more noise today.

This puts us and Michael Gullqvist at the same point standing in the European Championship. There is going to be a pretty interesting final weekend at Santa Pod the 9:th to the 12:th of september.

Gullqvist And Melanie In Final!

Both Mats and Michael performed at their best. But this day Michael draw the shortest straw.

6,0 in both lanes.

In the 2:nd semi Melanie Troxel met Urban Johansson. Melanie stated an example, and showed us all that she it one of the worlds fastest.

Will there be a 5 second run in the final?

You Got The Flow Mats!

—Yes. It feels like we are back, and it's great!

Written 08.15.10 13:08 by Patrik Larsson | Posted in: Random | Comments (0)

How Are You Urban?

Hey Urban, you ran 7,14, it wasn't as fast as expected. —No, we made a mistake. We didn't think the track was good enough, so we ran safe and had a tire shake. Lucky for us that Lindahl ran a red light.

Now you are up against Melanie. What are your thoughts about that? —I'm not that far behind. If I just can go through first gear without a shake, I will go fast, and give her a real match. This feels like one of my most important races ever. Not for the points, but for the glory!

Urban carries the true attitude of a real drag racer.

The rain has started to fall here at Hockenheim. And just minutes ago, the roof blew of Michael Gullqvist tent. This is not the kind of disturbance you need when your about to go out to compete.

Round Two.

Mikael Lindahl ran a massive red light, and Urban is through to the next round.

Johan got away first, beating Gullqvist at the tree. But we hit a tire chake again, but now still driving on first gear. Michael ran a nice 6,12.

Mats did no mistakes, and beat Andy. Mats stopped the clock at 6,09!

Melanie is also through to the next round. She impresses with a 6,08.

Round One In Numbers.

Yesterdays Elimination round one turned out to be an exciting event. Burning cars, red light, crossing the centerline. More updates to come, we are now called out to round two. Here we go again, have to run!

In, Out, And In And Out Again.

The best way to work on an engine out here in the pits, is to have it mounted in the car. The plan for the night was to rebuild engine number one. And when it was mounted back in again, and we started to work on it, we discovered that it was even more badly hurt than expected. The only thing to do was to put the Nova engine in again, for the second time.

Now the guys had allot more time and they worked, laughed, worked and laughed a little more.

At 02:30 everything was in place again, ready to go for tomorrow.

Here she is, back again. And this time we will be able to test start, heat her up and do some tuning.

But the big question is why we melted the engine in the first place. We still believe in the shutoff valve theory. But to rule out many other things Strumpan and Jonnie spent a couple of hours more this night to go through the fuel system. They didn't find anything.

Update On Fast Fred.

Fast Freddy Fagerstöm that was up against Urban Johansson in his first round of eliminations. But at about 4 seconds in to the race his truck started to burn. —I just wish to say to everybody that I'm fine. Some burnt eyebrows, but no more than that!

Well Freddy is OK. But his truck is in much worse shape. There are allot of rumors that go around about why this happened. But one thing is for sure. There was nothing wrong with the engine when the things started to go wrong. Any way, the burst panel broke, and in some way the sparks and ignited methanol probably found it's way into the fuel tank, witch made it explode, and drowned the truck in burning fuel.

Burnt doors.

Even both chutes caught fire.

—When I was sitting there in this sea of fire, I only told my self not to panic. And I knew that I had to get out fast, Freddy says.

All the electrics is ruined.

The cockpit is darker than ever.

—When the window safety net started to burn, it shrunk. And because of that the lock got jammed. I had to fight with it for to many seconds. It was scary.

Here in the bottom of the fuel tank you see a part of the huge crack that emptied the tank in a blink of an eye.

—Here is the guy that saved my ass. I would like to send a huge thanks to the fantastic fast and professional rescue team that worked with me!, Freddy said, and the fire man answered. —I'm not working with this, this is my hobby!

—Well I already got one new sponsor. He gave me these pair of nice black dices! One less thing to buy new!

Working The Night Shift.

Here is the most fantastic bunch of people that makes days like this possible.

After some nice food it's time to get back to work. Tear down and rebuild again!

New sleves, some new connecting rods and new pistons. We'll see how much we need to change.

Here is what probably started all this. With this grip on the handbreak handle Johan after the race shuts down the engine by cutting the fuel to the engine. This one vibrated inwards cutting the fuel during the race, and the engine was uncontrollable leaned out, and ran to hot.

Ladder For Tomorrow.

We are up against Michael Gullqvist. We have also found the parts we need to rebuild the broken engine. We will go out at 10:25 tomorrow, so there will not be much sleep for the mechanics tonight.

Johans Story.

So Johan... What do you have to say about this?

—When I pushed the starter button and the engine actually started, it was a huge relief. And as we never had the time to warm the motor and not tune it either, I went out and did a short burnout. I then got of the starting line pretty well, and when I shifted to second gear I had a massive tire shake. I skidded back and forth, pedaled once, and then Adam came in to my lane. As soon as I saw that I called my brother Jonnie over the intercom and shouted, I think we won! That's about it. We have the best kind of guys in our team! Thanks everyone!

Engine out at 17:07.

It's Hurt Bad...

We are now qualified seventh. But the engine smoked at the finishline. Both burst panels is broken and the spark plugs doesn't look good. Mark, the Canadian guy in Melanie Troxells team said. —It's hurt bad... We hope his wrong. I'll update with the final qualification list, ladder and the status of our engine as soon as possible.

Round Three.

Mats Eriksson pulls of another superb run. —I love this track! Riding it is like a walk in a park compared to many others, he says with a huge smile. He keeps the second place. Melanie that was up against Mats also ran an close to perfect run, and is still number one.

Michael Gullqvist also keeps his place as third.

Jan Gunnarsson cuts his time and jumps up to seventh place, one thousands of a second after us.

Adam Flamholc and his crew stayed up almost al night trying to fix the rear end. And it seems like that they succeeded. Congrats Adam on your 6,30 run and ninth place!

We're In The Game!

We're in the game again, and qualified as number six at this time.

As we had no recording on the data logger from our round yesterday, Jonnie decided to go safe. We needed to be qualified for the eliminations. We're there, so now it's time to go really fast! The complete list will come as I can get a hold of it.

Guten Morgen!

The sun is shining here at Hockenheim this morning! The chances for a nice race day is really great.

The weather forecast predicts some rain late tonight. Hopefully we will be able to run the first eliminations before that... If we qualify... so to say...

And qualify we will. Let's get back to work... Rubber gloves on Rille!

Time to check the valve lash. Valve covers off!

Find the correct tools. We have one blade for when the engine is cold, and one when it's warm. 0.16 mm and 0,26.

Perfect! Time to heat her up. The race is on in less than an hour.

Serious Fans And More Power.

It was fun to se Mats Eriksson shine today. He is back!

Signing autographs and bonding with his fans.

With a nice qualifying run like this, the Team Green Goblin has some room to take chances. Here you see Mats "Masse" Johansson changing tires, so that they will have perfect tires for the eliminations.

Also Team Kendall finally got most of it right. Qualified as number four.

Some teams has some serious fans. This copy of the twins Camaro has a German guy built. It is actually a mini drag racing car that is raced against other similar cars. The body is imported from the States and is modified in the front to be an exact copy of the Kendall Camaro.

—We had a great first day. We finally got the chassis to react correct. So now it's time to test something new. We got to beat this girl Melanie you know. We have won here two years in a row now, and a third time would be nice, says Daniel Andersson, one of the mechanics in Team Kendall Racing.

Double Burst Panel (Pro) Modification.

There is nothing called problems! There are only challenges to overcome.

The burst panel that broke and stopped us from running qualifying round two was simply to old, and the massive tire shake we had in the first round just killed it. But Jonnie and Strumpan came up with an idea. Why don't build a double burst panel construction, the type that often is used on top methanol funny cars.

One of the FMFC teams had a spare spacer made just for this.

Some drilling and some tapping, and you're there!

Put it where is should be.

And there it is! With a little hose connected to the valve in the side, you can blow and that way check if the inner burst panel is broken or not. We are ready for tomorrow... are you?

Disaster Round.

Oh no! What are you doing! Pulling away...

A broken burst panel... For no obvious reason the panel broke at the start up.

Allot more luck for Mats Eriksson who ran a impressive 6,16 and is now qualified as number two.

Tire Shake And Welding.

Qualifier number three Jan Gunnarsson got a huge tire shake during his race. When these cars get these shakes, allot of bad things happen, besides that the run it self is wasted.

For example. Nuts and bolt unscrew them selves, and things just brake. This is the newly welded wheelie bars on Badillac.

And here is our wheelie bars that Jonnie had to weld after our first round.

Mistakes.

Hey Michael. You're qualified as number two. How does it feel? —It feels nice, but I made a huge mistake. I have changed the computer in my car. And I guess that I didn't fully rely on it during the race. So I shifted gears before the shift light went on. And on the third gear i burned the clutch way to much. So we have allot to do fix before the next round.

1:St Round.

Melanie Troxel and Team R2B2 did their job and qualified as number one in the first round.

Marco Maurischat is the last one who gets a place in the eliminations at this time. But we have a long way to go before this is over.

Johan had a tire shake when shifting to second gear and had to go of the throttle.

Good Nights Sleep.

No jet lag! Melanie has had a good nights sleep at the hotel. She walked the track yesterday and liked what she saw. —It not that much rubber in the track yet. But the everything's looking really good for todays race. The most worrying thing is the chances of rain, she says.

Like most drivers Melanie also likes to have full control of the chutes.

Melanie and Michael Gullqvist is here as a two car team.

Patrick Grahn, one of Adam Flamholcs mechanics has high expectations of todays race. —Hopefully we now have found the reason why the car has behaved so strange and unpredictable.

Due to that the rear axle had some serious cracks, that the team didn't find Adams car could suddenly slide sideways totally out of Adams control. The worst incident happened at Mantorp two weeks ago. We'll se later to day if the problem is solved.

Jan Gunnarsson and his team Badillac has gone through the engine from the top to the bottom. —We are very lucky that we took a real good look at everything. We where pretty close to a major brake down, Jan laughed. And now he is sitting here selling some engine souvenires to his fans.

Welcome Back!

We're all very happy to see that Andy Robinson and his -53 Studebaker Commander is back, after the fire in Finland earlier this season.

—We where done with the car at 9 Tuesday afternoon, and we left for Hockenheim on Wednesday morning.

New colors and a new name.

Have Andy started his own fire department?

In the previous version the frame was painted. But as the paint was burnt in the fire, Andy choose to blast the frame and leave it like this.

Hockenheim Race Track

In 1986 a couple of German motor enthusiasts visited Hockenheim Ring and saw the potential for a dragracing event. The racing started, and now the Nitrolympx is one of Europes largest events of this kind, with an average of 250 teams in 14 race classes, competing in front of 50'000 spectators.

If we have the weather gods on our side the next coming days, we hopefully will se all these seats be filled with race fans.

The preparations of the track and it's surroundings is going on. We have never seen this much show lights at a drag strip before. What are the plans for this?

The American driver Melanie Troxell and the worlds best tuner, Al Billes is here... will this track allow them to show us a 5,8-something run this weekend?

New Gearbox

On a short notice late this sunday night, Jonnie decided to shift the B&J gear box to one from Lenco Racing Transmissions.

—It felt like the right thing to do. One huge advantage is that it is so much easier to find spare parts at the race tracks, Jonnie says.

And as the Lenco was a little bit longer than the previous gearbox, the drive shaft needed to be shortened before the trip to Germany. And thanks to the guys at Svea Bil this was not a problem. So support our supporters and talk to them the next time you need help.

Michael Gullqvist runs 6,30, beating Tomi Pöntinen.

Bruno Bader goes through. Running 6,51 against Norbert Kunos 7,00.

Terje Håkonsen fails his stage in, and Johan wins running on seven cylinders. 6,71.

Roger Johansson beats Mikael Lindahal.

Niclas Andersson is also through to the next run.

The same for Freddy Fagerström... To bad that the skies just opened and the rain is pouring down.

We will in the first round go out against Terje Hokonsen as the fifth pair.

So Terje, how does it feel? Are you ready? —Yes, the car runs really nice. But we had to work almost al night fixing the gearbox for today. I've been qualified as 16:th and beaten number one qualifier before. So why not win today?

Rise And Shine.

Sunday morning at 09:00 our car has to be down on the ground ready to race. The first round of eliminations will start at 09:20.

We're up against the Norwegian Terje Hokonsen. He qualified in as number 15 with the time 6,53s.

Johan is not only, what we think the best driver there is. He is also a pretty nice guy and he loves to take good care of his fans.

Mikael Lindahl holds the 7:th position in the European Championship together with Roger Johansson. These two will meet each other in the first round.

Håkan Nilsson has the pleasure to meet Fast Fred in his first round. Here anything can happen.

When Mats and his crew took a little closer look at their batteries, that they thought that they had forgot to recharge before round two, they discovered that both of them actually didn't work at all. Now Mats had only one chance to go through to the eliminations. It's an understatement to say that Mats used the whole width of the track to force his Ford the whole way to the finish line. —This is not the kind of driving I would recommend anyone to try exceeding 300 km/h!, Mats says with a smile.

Niclas Andersson and his team Old-51 stood over qualifying round two today. —As we where number one after day one, we decided to save our material for the next weekend and the race in Norway, the steady Top Doorslammer winner said. But they went out for the round three, and didn't really succeed there. They ended up in 3:rd place and Niclas will meet another Top Doorslammer driver, Pierre Rydberg in his first round.

On every battle field there is smoke. Mantorp is no exception.

We would like to send a huge thanks to the fantastic crowd that came to see all of us today. Thanks!

And finally a huge thanks to you Crew Cheif Jonnie as well!

Third Round, And Still 2:Nd.

Urban Johansson is still the fastest man today, with his 6,08 in the second run.

Here is the final list. The five first stays unchanged, and Fredrik Fagerstöm squeezes in on 6:th place right before Roger Johansson

And the ladder.

One of the happiest to day is Lars Olsson, who is the last one to qualify for the eliminations tomorrow.

We where up against Michael Gullqvist. He smoked right of the starting line, and Johan ran a safe 6,17.

Jari Parén is right now the last man in the game.

Urban ran a impressing 6,08, and are now the number one qualifier!

Final Preparations.

Crew cheif Jonnie Lindberg is preparing the bird for today. There was not really much to learn from yesterdays failed run. Johan had the quickest reaction, we were the fastest to 60 feet, but then our "six shooter" failed and the ignition where not retarded as planned. With to much power for this slippery track, we lost all the traction. It's going to be a interesting day today... Pro Modified will as it seems go out around noon.

The final work is being done on the engine.

More Chatting.

Okay Mats... what happened? —When we during the winter where working to put of some weight, we changed the two large batteries to smaller ones. Since then it's much more important that we recharges the batteries regularly. We missed that this time after a couple of starts and the warm up. We were not able to start the engine when it was our turn.

Okay Michael... what happened to you then? —During the burn out I felt something strange with the clutch, so I pulled away, just to be safe.

Michael Gullqvist is now back in his old Bel Air. But now with a similar engine as the one he used in Melanie Troxells Camaro.

—The engine, clutch and the rear end is now working fine. But it still is allot to do with the chassis, says 15:th qualifier Graham Ellis.

—Actually, after the race at Alastaro, where we didn't even qualify, I decided that I have to try something new. So now I have bought a -70 Cuda from Troy Critchley in the Team AMS in the States. If everything goes as planed, I will race it during the European finals.

Now it's over and out from the Lindberg Bros Media Center for today. See you all tomorrow!

Shit Chat...

Pierre Rydberg is qualified third. —I had to pedal twice to be able to come down the track pretty safe, he says. Normally he only competes in the Scandinavian class Top Doorslammer.

Pierre also thinks that he, during these circumstances with allot less traction, has an advantage compared to the others in the European Championship. —We in Top Doorslammer are used to run on pretty bad tracks.

Marko Lantto is so far in the 6:th place. —We have had so much problem here at Mantorp earlier. So i'm really happy with what we where able to do today!

This picture of Marko shows him slipping and sliding here at Mantorp last year. —This is the result of to much power and to much clutch. We went out really safe today. Just to get down the track, Markos CrewCheif says.

—I have just one thing to say... Slippery! Jan Gunnarsson and his -59 Badillac is for now qualified 5:th.

First Qualifying Round Done.

Finally we all where called out to line up again. There was one more shower of rain.

But the race track crew dried it all up pretty fast, and we could continue where we where before the rain.

Not a perfect round for us, but something to learn allot from. 6,72 and 7:th place.

Both Michael Gullqvist and Mats Eriksson where not able to run their races. Michael aborted after the burn out and Mats did not come to start at all.

We Had Fun For A While.

Fast Fred did his burnout and the rain started to fall slowly...

Time to cover up the beauties.

The fireman Tobbe Landgren is catching the moment and having his lunch break.

Hi Johan! How are you in there?

The fastest qualifier so far is Niclas Andersson with his 6,193 sec.

Final Prep For The Veidec Fest.

To keep her fast, every thing need to be in perfect shape. The engine has once again been looked over from the top to the bottom.

As I write our fantastic trailer is getting even better. Tomorrow Tuesday, the travel towards Mantorp and the third race in the European Championship will start. Now there will no doubt about who's coming!

Just for fun! As Jonnie has a hard time to sit down and not do anything, he also just "had" to put an engine in his hot rod. This raw beauty will also be seen at Mantorp!

False Alarm...

They called for a 25 minutes break to work on the track. Nothing to do but to roll back and hide in the shadows.

Both the final teams under the same roof.

Final!

Once again we're in final. And now we have someone to race against.

Urban gave us a real match. It was really close but Johan made it again.

Once again down the victory lane.

Here is the prof... Gullqvist is not unbeatable. Adam Flamholc made a remarkable start. 0,066 in reaction time vs. Michaels 0,202. Unfortunately for Adam it wasn't enough... Our Johan has beaten Michael before at the tree. So the race is on!

1:St Round.

Nothing is for sure whet it comes to drag racing. Almost anything can happen.

#5 Lindahl vs. #1 Eriksson in the first Pro Mod pass of the day. Both got out really beautiful. But three-four seconds in to the race Mats lost tracktion and had to pedal. The race was lost. Nice job anyway of Mats crew getting the car in this good shape after what happened yesterday.. Congrats Mikael Lindahl!

#2021 Adam got a free pass when #55 Tomi Pöntinen got some problem with his car after the burnout. Congrats Adam!

Everybody thought that this race should be a easy win for #1959 Jan Gunnarsson. Jan was first out beating #3624 Marko Lantto by one tenth of a second at the tree. But he lost traction and Marko passed. Congrats Marko!

#4110 Timo in his -67 Bel Air is one lucky man! He came in replacing #3 Andy Robinson. And got through as his opponent #60 Tami Brander ran a red light. Congrats Timo!

Next man for quarter finals is #6 Urban Johansson. Urban made no mistakes and beat #7060 Marco Maurischat. Congrats Urban!

Next couple out was we against #63 Jari Parén. Here Jonnie and Strumpan lining up Johan before the race.

Jörgen Leanders is always happy when his customers is doing a great job. 6,140 feels great, but is not in the same league as #2 Michael Gullqvist.

Michael Gullqvist and tuner Jason McNight before the race... little did they know that they where about to run the fastest ET ever in Europe.

Congrats Michael! Now it's just minutes to go for the next round...

Gettin' Race Ready.

Everything seem to have gone fine at Mats Erikssons. Just some fuel and she is ready to go.

Mikael Lindahl, did you get anywhere with the blower? "We don't know what went wrong. But we shifted the intake, if the other one was leaking. And for safety we also had to tune her down a bit. We had to do something."

So what's on the schedule for you guys? "We're going to beat Michael Gullqvist! Nothing else... (laughter!)

At Gullqvists everybody is in a real good mood.

Hey tuner Jason McNight, what's the secret about Gullqvists car? "There is no secret. You just have to get out there and have fun! Seriously, it's not like we didn't work allot with it. Al Billes have put many hours in to this one, and we are just carrying on from that."

No secrets here... but she sure is looking good.

Jan Gunnarsson, your guys stayed up late last night working hard on your car. Is there any problems? "No, nothing. Just some regular service and minor changes. Were going to try to shift gears a little later today."

Good Morning Race Fans!

Good morning every one! The sun is shining and it looks like we are going to get another fantastic race day here at Alastaro Circuit.

Alastaro Drag Race City is slowly getting awake, and in about an hour the engines will start to roar around the area. It's time to se if the work that have been done during the evening and night has paid of.

Written 07.04.10 05:19 by Patrik Larsson | Posted in: Random | Comments (0)

Exciting Day To Come.

Jari Parén is pulling a huge burn out before the qualifying run four. He ended up as number 14 and therefor he is going up against us in the first turn.

Urban Johansson and his -63 Corvette qualified as number seven, and will start the eliminations against Marco Maurischat from Germany.

Well you can't see this car to many times... can you?

In Mats Erikssons last qualifying round he got in to a massive tire shake and shortly after that he skidded sideways and was inches from hitting the left wall.

Right after the car had stopped, the Green Goblin crew started to investigate...

...and here is the answer. Both lower four link bars had snapped right of. The ME Racing crew will for sure burn the midnight oil, to be able to race to morrow. Mikael Lindahl is the first one out for Mats.

The match between Mats and Lindahl will be interesting. Because it's not only Mats that has problems with the car. The Lindahls blower was not functioning as expected at the end of the day. We'll se tomorrow if they can get it to run 100% again.

Tero is the owner of the Alastaro Circuit. His goal is for everybody to have a great time, and he love to spend allot of hours with everybody that works so hard to make this event this great. The fact that we had around 30'000 people here today watching maybe says it all.

Freddy Fagerstöm ran it safe for once. He had only one chance left and made it. "We actually ran to safe. The car started to run hard on the rear wheels, and started to slip and slide back and forth. I had to fight it all the way to the finish line" said Freddy right after the race.

Robert Joosten didn't make it this weekend. He finished as number 20.

Gullqvist #1!

Michael Gullqvist ran a wooping 6,026 and 393,16 Km/h!!!

Well you got to thank someone, or maybe something! Johnny Maguda cluch man for Gullqvist is a happy man today.

And we also managed to get back on track again! To be able to finish this day with 6,134 and 373,78 feels fantastic! The magic Team Lindberg Bros proved their skills again!

Hot, hot, hotter than hell!

Fast Fred was the last one to get in to the ladder during the qualifications.

But Timo Aikaa from Finland will replace Andy Robinson as he won't be able to start tomorrow.

30 Minutes...

Here we go again. Half an hour warning, and warm up.

Written 07.03.10 14:09 by Patrik Larsson | Posted in: Random | Comments (0)

Andy Is Ok.

The Robinson crew is trying to figure out what really happened.

The burst panel broke when something made the blower to lift. One guess is a broken crank shaft.

There is no way that they can get the car running again for tomorrow, but they have all the parts at home to get ready for the next round in the European Championship, at Mantorp in Sweden.

Overestimated.

If the track was underestimated yesterday, it was badly overestimated today. Almost no one improved significantly, but Jan Gunnarsson in his -59 Cadillac. He went from 6:th to 5:th place with his 6,204 s.

We smoked some right of the finish line, and Johan had to go of the throttle right after second gear. The clock stopped at 8-something.

Unfortunately we have to report that Andy Robinsons car started to burn right at the finish line. When the car finally stopped, Andy got out and then his safety suite was burning. Andy is okay as it seems, but his car is now brought back in pieces.

Minutes To Go.

The final preparations has started. We will soon line up for the first appearance today.

Adam Flamholcs engine is warm and getting some fuel. Adam is at fourth place with 6,147 s.

Some ignition work at Tami Brander. Now at 15:th with 7,423 s.

Everything seems okay at Roger Johanssons. 16:th and in the ladder right now with 8,041.

Graham Ellis have had huge problems with the gearbox. "My guys have put in and out the gearbox three times this morning!" Everything seems ok right now.

Ellis is right outside the ladder right now.

Ellis crew is done for now. In a couple of minutes we will know if there worked for nothing or victory.

Our bird have got new spark plugs and is warming up as I write. Rille! You are the man!

Johan is tightening the bedlock nuts.

Weather check, and then some work by the computer. During the first run yesterday the Race Pak didn't work. So for the second run Jonnie had to trust his feeling. And it seemed to go well. We are qualified as third with 6,112 s.

Alastaro Is Awake.

The racing is on!

It seems like there is a good chance for a fantastic day here at the "beach".

These guys have done this before. No one like sand in there pants.

Some final things to do on the car. The pro classes will go out for the qualifying round number three at about one o'clock, and the round four at about five, local time.

Well, the car is ready. But for some reason there is always something that can be done. The goal is always perfection!

As said before... perfection!

Movie From Today.

Written 07.02.10 20:08 by Patrik Larsson | Posted in: Random | Comments (0)

Moments...

The hero of the day! Michael Gullqvist showed us all how to run 6,0 here at Alastaro today.

When Michael came in late last night the rumor got around fast. A new car and a partly American professional crew. He will be hard to beat... so true.

Hero number two. Andy Robinsson. A real English gentleman. Always happy, polite and nice. But the big question is... where could we get a pair of those fantastic suspenders?

A documentary is being made about to live with drag racing. The focus is on three Swedish teams, and we are one of them. Learn more at Racers-Facebook.

The Lindberg Bros clan is growing. Here between Jonnie and the daddy Strumpan we se the "Newest Generaton". A perfect environment for a baby girl to grow up.

Some photographers is in better shape than others...

Scoobz! Me coming to haunt ye in yar dreamz to nite! Iiiii hi hi hi!

To be a spectator at Alastaro is like beeing on the beach... minus the water... plus the drag racing.

Target number one this weekend! Johan Lindberg.

"You got to feel it" says our man Strumpan. You can't win without guys like this.

Cool glasses on first... then take the picture.

Second Run.

When Johan ran 6,112 he for a while was number one qualifier. But right behind him Michael Gullqvist and Andy Robinson where waiting for their turn.

Michael finished in a beautiful 6,046-run and held a speed of 388,83 across the finish line. Right behind him Andy stopped the clock at 6,105. Michael is now 1:st and Andy 2:nd. Johan is placed 3:rd.

Written 07.02.10 15:00 by Patrik Larsson | Posted in: Random | Comments (0)

Time To Analize.

As it seems several of al the contestants has underestimated the track. Many say that it's possible to run very fast today. The second run is now very close.

0,8 seconds into Badillacs first run, cylinder 1 and 7 flamed out. The team don't know why, but will fully go for it during the second run.

Freddy where able to make a Freddy-burn, but something in the gearbox broke, and he had to abort his first try. Right now they are putting the last pieces in place, and will probably be able to go out one more time today.

Mikael Lindahl clutch was slipping a little to much and he got some tire shake. "Nothing to worry about" and "Now we have something to start working with" as they said.

Mats Erikson never expected to go full speed during the first run. Their fuel pump broke yesterday during the warm up, and they had to shift to a new one. Just to be safe and not risk the engine Mats got of the throttle right after the second gear. "We needed to check the flow of the new fuel pump".

Connection!

After a huge problem getting the Internet connection to work here at Alastaro, we finally are connected to the outer world again! Since last update we now have ran the first Pro Modified qualification round.

Number one qualifier is Michael Gullqvist in Melanie Troxels Camaro. He pulled of a nice 6,126 s and 386,5 km/h.

Number two is Andy Robinson with his 6,144 s. and 357,9 km/h.

On third place we find Adam Flamholc. He ran 6,147 s. and 371,95 km/h.

And as man number four, our Johan! The clock stopped at 6,171 s. and the speed was 371,67 km/h.

In a couple of hours round number two starts. Stay tuned! And hopefully the technique will work with us from now. By the way... Thanks Tero for the login!!!

At Fast Freds it's always fast forward.

Right next to us the scary beautiful Badillac has found her place.

And they could introduce their new Crew Cheif, Lars-Åke Hill.

Andy Robinson is also back on track after the engine breakdown that prevented him from race the final against us during the Main Event in England.

The track is being prepared.

Call The Saturday Off.

The rain stopped to fall for a couple of hours. "Two hour warning!" the Santa Pod crew shouted out. We all thought that we was going to race today after all.
The Rockstar bird got some fuel and we prepared for the warm up.
An half an hour before the line up the wet stuff started to fall again... and our mascot where angrier than ever.
So that sums the saturday up. Rain, waiting, lot's of good food...
...and a frustrated crew. See you all tomorrow!

Historic Moment.

We had to do something while waiting for the rain to stop, and the racetrack to dry... Here is a movie that we just now put together. It's from the first start up and the first turns with the Firebird at home.

Rain.

The rain is pouring down. The Santa Pod crew is fighting back, but has to see them selves conquered for now.
The whole team and all the gear is ready to race. So lets rest...
...play some games...
...and eat candy out of our fully sponsored carbon fiber specially made candy bowl. Thank's Swecomposite!

Good Morning!

Santa Pod is open for business!
The clouds is covering the Santa Pod area, and the weather forecast says that we will get some rain during the day.

Well, we need to get ready anyway. Here some sandwiches and coffee for the team.
If you don't have a nice trailer with a kitchen, the food stands is an alternative.
Air preassure, temperature and humidity, is some of the parameters that has to be considered. The Pro Modified class is according to plan going to start the qualifying races at about 12:00.

Finishing The Details.

Even the exhaust pipes, the "zoomies" need to shine!
Another new sponsor is getting in place.
If anyone had a doubt.
Some details in the gearbox need to be checked again. "Strumpan" is the one who knows these things.
Even the smallest thing can lead to disaster. It's better to be safe than sorry.

Jennifer Gustafsson from Sweden is one of those that where allowed to race today.
A nice wheelie is never wrong.

The previous owner, John Russos tuner Al Billes came by to say hi.

Scrutineering.

Jonnie is preparing the last things before the technical inspection. The so called Scrutineering.
Here we are waiting in line to be checked and approved to race.
A nice gentleman inspected the car very thoroughly.
And inspected some more.
Johans safety gear needed to be approved.
The approval stickers is on! We are ready to race.

A Day Off...

Finally all of us is at site. It's time to set camp.
A nice floor is what's makes a real home.
When everything is done. It's time for the bird to come out of it's nest.
Nice and gentle...
There will be no Pro-classes running today. But tomorrow Johan will get out on the track for the first time in England with the new car.
Everybody in the team is exited and a bit tense about what the weekend will give. Crew cheif Jonnie! Are you nervous?

The Trip.

It's five o'clock, it's cold and the fog surrounds us. It's time to leave for Arlanda Airport and the trip to England to catch up with Jonnie and Johan that left Sweden with the trailer a couple of days ago.
Rickard is enjoying his coffee and sandwich at Arlanda.

A airport breakfast is always tasting nice.

Rita Lindberg always let's her sun and good mood shine over the rest of us.
